The name Wainuiātea has been used for this app as it draws on the apps underlying purpose and also has a special connection to the name of KPMGs internal Māori and Pacific Island rōpū, Kiwa (Te Moana Nui-ā-Kiwa — The Great Ocean of Kiwa).

Translated literally, Wainuiātea means a vast-unobstructed body of water. The purpose of this app is to be an effective resource and rallying point for you as you begin your journey across the vast-unobstructed waters of te ao Māori. Weve included here information on te reo Māori (the Māori language), tikanga (customs), mihimihi (introductions) and waiata (songs), to help you understand more about our unique and shared cultural heritage.
